40,000 cyber attacks in 5 days

In past 5 days, Chinese hackers have attempted more than 40,000 cyber attacks on banking sector and Information Technology infrastructure of India, a higher police official reported on Tuesday in Maharashtra.
This kind of activities was found after the Ladakh incident, Maharashtra Police cyber wing’s Special Inspector General of Police, Yashasvi Yadav stated.
Most of the attacks were noted to have started in China’s Chengdu area when Maharashtra Cyber dug deeper into the issue to collect information.
Yadav stated, “According to our information at least 40,300 cyber attacks were attempted in the last four-five days on the resources in Indian cyberspace”. The intention of the attack was to create problems like hijacking of Internet Protocol, denial of service and phishing, he said.
The IGP opined that ‘firewalls’ should be created and users should be aware of such threats and plan for cyber security audits.
