Anti-terror feat achieved by Indian security forces in Kashmir

Monday, 29th June 2020

In an anti-terrorist encounter in Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag District this morning, Indian security forces took the lives of 3 terrorists among which there was Masood Ahmed Bhat; a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist group.

According to police officials this is indeed a major achievement as with the killing of Masood, J & K’s Doda district became entirely terrorists-free. Masood, as police said, was the last among the surviving terrorists in that region. The anti-terrorist operation was launched as a joint operation by the CRPF, J & K police and Army. The army reported the recovery of 2 pistols and an AK rifle from the site of encounter.

Dilbagh Singh; Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief said in an interview to NDTV: "With today's operation at Khull Chohar Anantnag by Anantnag Police along with Local RR unit in which two LET terrorists including one district commander and one Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Masood are neutralised. Doda district in Jammu Zone becomes totally militancy free one again as Masood was last surviving terrorist of Doda District,"

He further said: "Masood was involved in a rape case filed by Doda police and was on the run ever since. He later joined Hizbul Mujahideen and shifted his area of operation to Kashmir,"

J & K Police informed on Saturday that about 29 terrorists from foreign lands are lurking in Southern Kashmir.

In this context, Vijay Kumar (IGP-Kashmir) said to a renowned News Agency PTI: "There is a presence of foreign terrorists in the upper reaches of Kokernag, Tral and Khrew. There are about 29 foreign terrorists active in South Kashmir and we will neutralise them when they come down and our sources inform us (about them),"

Police Officer further added that the success of the security forces was indeed a major one.  Now, the next important venture would be to make terrorism disappear completely from Southern Kashmir.

Nityanand Rai (Union Minister of State for Home Affairs) said that 100 + terrorists have been destroyed in Kashmir this year. He made this claim during a rally (virtual) in the Madhubani district of Bihar. He informed that Kashmir’s Tral area is ''terror free zone'' now.
