‘Big B’; i.e. Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor of Bollywood and son, Abhishek Bachchan tested COVID-19 +ve as revealed by them this Saturday and have been moved to the hospital. Amitabh Bachchan is 77 years old, is asymptomatic and more or less stable. Details of his condition was revealed to NDTV by Rajesh Tope, Maharashtra Health Minister.


"I have tested CoviD positive ..  shifted to Hospital  .. hospital informing  authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !t," tweeted Amitabh Bachchan.


"Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank You," tweeted Abhishek Bachchan.


Amitabh Bachchan resides in the tinsel town of Mumbai, one of the most badly affected cities of India by the pandemic, recording nearly 91,745 confirmed cases and death toll of nearly 5,244 so far, coming second in position to the country capital Delhi.


The veteran actor is getting treated in the Respiratory Isolation Unit of Mumbai’s Nanavati hospital and Doctors told to NDTV that he is responding to the treatment quite well.


Known as the ‘Shehenshah’ of Bollywood, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan rose to fame as an actor in the 1970s with back to back hit movies like Sholay, Zanzeer and more.


Fans still pour in at the theatres in large numbers to catch an on-screen glimpse of him. His latest movie ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ is a comedy-drama that was released on the streaming service of Amazon due to the pandemic-induced restrictions.


Film shoots have restarted in Bollywood recently after a long hiatus spanning across a couple of months due to the countrywide lockdown imposed in the late March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.


But actors who are more than 65 years of age, like Mr. Bachchan, are not allowed to visit the film set because of their vulnerability with regard to the infection.


The announcement made by Mr. Bachchan garnered a shower of wishes for his speedy recovery from the well wishers.


In this context, Anand Mahindra; the renowned industrialist wrote:"We're all cheering for you. And you have nothing to worry about. There's a vaccine you possess—it's code named the Big V—and it's inbuilt & organic. Grows inside all those like you who are natural fighters,"
