Guidelines issues for a safe festival

Tuesday, 28th July 2020

With the festivities of Bakr Eid or Eid-ul-Azha fast approaching, all major Muslim organizations of the country have issued a list of advisories pertaining to animal sacrifice & social distancing amid the ongoing crisis of coronavirus.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, one such organization, has made an appeal to the Muslim community to abide by the guidelines of the health ministry while offering the festival namaaz at one’s home or at the mosque. The organization has further advised that the spiritual prayers as well as the animal sacrifices need to be undertaken 20 minutes prior to sunrise.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind further advised the community that they must try to avoid sacrificing “forbidden animals, because in religion it is permissible to sacrifice a black animal instead of that. Therefore, it is better to be content with it to avoid any trouble.”

“If mischievous elements in a place prevent the sacrifice of a black animal also, so some sensible and influential people should take the administration into confidence, and then sacrifice should be offered,” said the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind.

Another organization known by the name of ‘Indian Muslims for Progress and Reforms’ too issued the “16 point guidelines” to address all the relevant concerns right from social distancing regulations to the observance of hygienic practices.
