Former Maharashtra CM breathes his last

Former CM of Maharashtra, Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar, aged 89, passed away after a short phase of illness as informed by his family members. He was admitted to a Private Hospital after falling sick. Recently he tested coronavirus positive but he got cured and was released from hospital
Nilangekar was one of the senior Congress leaders from Latur in the Marathwada region and he was the Maharashtra CM from the time span starting from June 1985 to the March of 1986.
He resigned from his designation of Chief Minister when Bombay High Court passed strictures accusing him of fraud related to the 1985 MD exam. He was accused of allowing the fraud to let his daughter and his daughter’s friend clear the exams.
His funeral rites would be undertaken in Latur district’s Nilanga town later on this Wednesday. Sambhaji Patil is a BJP MLA and had been the Labor minister in Maharashtra’s erstwhile Devendra Fadnavis-led government.
“Shri Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar Ji was a stalwart of Maharashtra politics,” the PM’s Office tweeted. Furthermore it was stated as follows: “He served the state diligently, especially working for the welfare of farmers and the poor. Anguished by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
