A flag march is conducted by the Army on Thursday in Dhekiajuli and Thelamara in the Sonitpur district of Assam where the members of the Bajrang Dal were attacked while they had set out on an extensive bike rally in order to celebrate the unique groundbreaking ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Temple that took place the previous day.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said in the context, “I have directed the DGP to conduct an inquiry. I appeal to all sections of people to maintain peace and harmony.”
Curfew for indefinite period has been announced in the areas under the jurisdiction of both Dhekiajuli police station as well as Thelamara police station. The Sonitpur police has informed that the Army had undertaken a flag march on the request of the district administrator. “We have already detained two people for questioning....The situation is under control,” said the police.
