Delhi August Heavy Rainfall Forecast
Wednesday, 19th August 2020
Though the past months were notably dry, the country capital has been able to get surplus rainfall from the monsoon of this year. The data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reveals that between the time span of June 1st and August 17th, Delhi has received surplus rainfall of 8.9%. Meanwhile, weather forecast talks of heavy downpour in Delhi in the next 2-3 days.
Data reveals the observation of the Safdarjung Observatory which is responsible for offering updates on the weather of the country capital. It has been observed that the capital city has already received a surplus rainfall of 8.9%. Palam has received a surplus rainfall of 7.2% while Lodhi Road has received a surplus rainfall of 19.1% between June 1st and August 17th.
Scientists at the IMD said that the monthly rainfall stats for the month of August still point out a deficit of 23% but the heavy rainfall forecast for the dates of August 18th, 19th and 20th imply that this deficit could be compensated enough in the next couple of days.
“There is a forecast of heavy rainfall from August 18 to August 20. The deficit will be covered in these days,” said Kuldeep Srivastava who is the head of the IMD’s regional weather forecasting centre.
The IMD weather forecast shows that in this season, Delhi, the country capital is likely to receive near to normal or even surplus rainfall. In the year 2019, the monsoons retreated in the national capital of Delhi on the 10th of October, with a recorded rainfall deficit amounting to about 38%.
