Many stretches report waterlogging

North Delhi’s Burfkhana Chowk, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road at Pul Prehaldpur, four stretches of the GT Road and many other stretches have reported waterlogging on Thursday by 7 am due to heavy rainfall in Delhi. Traffic will heavily be disrupted, said the police, insisting motorists to prevent taking these routes.
An orange alert was announced by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday at 5 am for thundershowers in NCR and Delhi from 5:30 am to 8:30 am.
IMD issued an advisory for the people asking them to check for congestion and traffic before leaving home and avoid the waterlogged areas.
“After Thursday the intensity of rainfall will decrease. Delhi is in for a spell of light rain till August 25. The monsoon trough is passing through the Capital”, head of IMD’s regional weather forecast department, Kuldeep Srivastava stated.
