The judgment pertaining to the Babri Masjid demolition case dating back to nearly 28 years is likely to be delivered on the 30th of September. This age-old case that had altered the social fabric as well as political landscape of the country is soon to draw to a close.
SK Yadav, specially appointed CBI judge will be delivering the verdict pertaining to the case and in this context; he has asked all who were accused in this case to be present at the court on the verdict day. Among the accused, there were BJP veterans such as Murli Manohar Joshi, LK Advani and Uma Bharti who too have been asked to be present. Allegations of conspiracy that had ultimately led to the 15th century old Babri Masjid demolition have been brought against these 3 chief political leaders.
The demolition happened in December 1992 and was undertaken by the kar sevaks who were instigated by the then political figures and were made to pull down the ancient mosque. They were told that the mosque was standing on the location of a sacred, ancient temple that marked Lord Rama’s birthplace.
Mr. LK Advani, aged 92 years, had delivered his statement regarding the Babri masjid demolition case on the 24th of July before the CBI Court through virtual conferencing. Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi aged 86 years had delivered his statement before the court a day ahead of Mr. Advani’s statement. Both of them have denied all the legal charges brought against them.
BJP leader UMA Bharti told to NDTV in the month of July that she doesn’t care about the judgment. "If I am sent to the gallows, I will be blessed. The place where I was born will be happy," she further stated.
