Veteran and highly famed playback singer S P Balasubrahmanyam, suffering from Covid-19 since the previous month, is currently in an “extremely critical” state of health, said the hospital where he is being treated. The news of his declining health came this Thursday from the hospital. Through a bulletin, Chennai’s MGM Healthcare reported that his condition is deteriorating fast and he may be put on ventilator soon.
SP Balasubrahmanyam, fondly known as ‘SPB’ is a singer of great repute. He has given us many big musical hits and is indeed a gem for the Indian musical industry. The singer was hospitalized in the early part of August. During that time he had shared a video on one of the social media platforms informing that he was all right.
On the 13th of August, he was shifted to ICU as there was a sharp drop in his oxygen saturation level. It is then that the need of a life support system arose. Balasubrahmanyam was administered physiotherapy and plasma therapy later when his health started improving a bit. He continued to be on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) support and ventilator. But despite being critical, he was still responding to the treatment of doctors.
S P Charan, his son, had been releasing info about him frequently. And, around the 19th of September, he had informed that his dad had started taking food by mouth.“That should help him grow stronger and take care of other vitals as well,” SP Charan had informed.
