Chirag Falor decides to go to MIT for higher studies

Tuesday, 6th October 2020

Pune-based JEE-Advanced Examinee Chirag Falor topped one of the most prestigious competitive exams of the country. The results of the exam were declared today; i.e. 5th of October. The All-India Rank of Chirag in the JEE Main was 12. The bright boy took admission in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of the United States in the month of March 2020. However, he could not move to the US due to the covid-19 pandemic and was pursuing his studies online from India itself. As per the reports of a news media, Chirag will not be studying further at any of the Indian IITs as he has already opted for the MIT.

"I have already attended classes online at MIT and will continue with it," Falor said in a statement to the PTI, a news agency after the declaration of the results of the JEE-Advanced examination.

The JEE Exam was conducted on the 27th of September. Nearly 1.6 lakhs of interested students had registered for the exam and nearly 1.5 lakh students had appeared for the exam. There were more than 43,000 candidates for the exam out of which 6,707 were girls.

He said that it was the toughest thing to secure a position in any of the IITs and he had to prepare for as many as 4 years for it as the syllabus was pretty vast. On the other hand the evaluation pattern at MIT was quite different. MIT assesses candidates on the basis of potential and personality and also checks on how much a candidate can leverage the available scopes. "I used to attend MIT classes online during the night and then prepare for IIT exams in the day," Chirag said.

Falor had gone to the Delhi-based school, Pragati Public School and later to the St Arnold Central School from where he did his Class X. Falor informed that he is planning to move to US in the month of January 2021. Falor was awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar for year 2020. At the award function PM Narendra Modi had praised him a lot.
