Justice NV Ramana faces allegations of AP CM
Monday, 12th October 2020
Justice NV Ramana of Supreme Court is facing the heat from YS Jaganmohan Reddy, CM of Andhra Pradesh and that entangles Supreme Court in yet another unwanted controversy. Justice NV Ramana is all scheduled to succeed Justice S A Bobde and grace the post of the Chief Justice of India in the month of April 2021.
The Andhra Pradesh CM has moved the allegation that Justice NV Ramana is part of a nexus between himself and his predecessor and key rival N Chandrababu Naidu. Justice NV Ramana too is from Andhra Pradesh. A letter was sent by YS Jaganmohan Reddy to CJI Bobde and an allegation was presented through that letter that Naidu had helped the family of Justice Ramana in making quick money and that the latter has attempted to repay the favor by trying to influence the state high court for impeding the smooth running of the government under him.
The litany presented by Andhra Pradesh CM hints that the family of Justice Ramana had executed a killing by buying a piece of land in the city of Amaravati from a local real estate dealer , which N Chandrababu Naidu had tried to shape as the capital of the state during the making of Telangana. This buying land was undertaken by Justice NV Ramana’s daughters.
The train of events that paved the way for Reddy's startling letter to CJI has further been associated with the timing that witnessed the filing of FIRs against the daughters of Justice Ramana and against the other guilty beneficiaries likely to have links with the land scam in Amaravati. A day back the government of Andhra Pradesh has moved a legal bench led by him for fast-tracking the trials in the criminal cases filed against the various serving plus former MPs as well as MLAs.
According to many the "coincidence" is quite significant as they can smell the intention of Justice Ramana to put the AP CM in trouble. Ramana probably had used the IPL that was seeking quick trial against the lawmakers with major criminal charges as his weapon. The reason is that were many cases against the AP CM too.
