Fake Mi Products seized in two major metropolitan cities

Mi India issued cautionary messages on November 23 against counterfeit products of an estimated value of INR 33.3 lakhs that have been confiscated from seven suppliers in India, four of which were based in Chennai while three were in Bangalore.
Raids had been conducted in the market in October and November as part of an anti-counterfeit program after a complaint was filed by with the local police station.
After an official complaint was registered, the police in tandem with company authorities seized fake products from three prominent outlets in the vicinity.
More than 3,000 products were seized that includes mobile back cases, headphones, power banks, chargers and earphones. The owners of the shops who were running the racket in both cities have been taken into custody. Upon interrogation, the shopkeepers owned up to the fact that they have been in the business of selling unauthorized Mi goods in the market for a long time now.
In a press release after the raid, the company issued guidelines for its customers on how to identify original Xiaomi products with the help of some simple steps.
Besides this, the company has also advised customers to purchase their products from Authorized service centers only.
Moreover, Mi India has also set up a special body within the company that will be solely responsible for keeping a constant check on the market and adopting necessary steps against such counterfeiters and unauthorized entities.
