Tamil version of the movie ‘Master’ starring Thalapathy Vijay has been released in theatres, days before the South Indian festival Pongal.
The film’s Hindi version is expected to make it to the theatres on January 14. It has been titled Vijay The Master. The film’s main star cast includes Andrea Jeremiah, Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj apart from Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles.
The film has received an extraordinary response which was seen in the advance bookings that were made for it. It also reflects the enthusiasm of fans for Thalapathy.
In a Twitter post, Film critic Sumit Kadel wrote, “Master Film advance booking across Tamil Nadu is earth-shattering.. Even with 50 percent occupancy Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Master is looking to break and create some box office records.”
The film that has been directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has been released in 1,000 theatres in Tamil Nadu, 200 cinemas across Kerala, over 700 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, around 2000 screens in north India, and over 100 screens in West Bengal, as per reports.
The film has received accolades from fans and critics alike who also make a special mention for the work of Vijay Sethupathi who is in a villainous role in the film.
Popular film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote in a social media post, “It's a tsunami at the BO... Master Film has a fantabulous start... only goes to prove yet again: Give the audience what they want to watch and they will never disappoint you... The charm of watching a well-made entertainer on the big screen will never diminish”.
Although the film opened to a thunderous response and it is already in receipt of glittering reviews, the Hombale Film productions will see a dip in box office collections due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and safety measures that are being adopted by movie theatres across the country due to it.
