The White House released Donald Trump’s pre-recorded farewell message on Tuesday in which although he wished his best to the succeeding administration, he failed to mention the upcoming president Joe Biden.

Trump also mentioned the achievements of his administration and said, “We did what we came here to do - and so much more.”

In the 20-minute clip, Trump criticized the January 6 attack on the Capitol building, the very seat of American democracy, that left 5 dead in its wake. He said, “the assault on our Capitol” was horrific for all citizens of the nation. He added, “Political violence is an attack on everything we cherish as Americans”.

Reflecting on his own presidency, he said he was the first “outsider” to have held the role of president, as he had never in his career been a politician but a “builder looking at open skylines and imagining infinite possibilities”. He asserted that the only reason he ran for office was that he had the confidence he would be able to tower “new summits for America just waiting to be scaled”.

Going on to enumerate his top achievements, Trump said his administration has struck historic peace deals in the Middle East. He said he was “especially proud” to state that he is the first president in decades “who has started no new wars”.

About China, which happens to be one of America’s current biggest contenders, he said “We revitalized our alliances and rallied the nations of the world to stand up to China like never before.”

The most contentious of all subject, the coronavirus pandemic, was also touched upon by the outgoing President who said he was satisfied with the way his administration handled it. He said when the US was hit by the deadly virus attack, they went on to produce “not one, bit two vaccines” and that too at “record-breaking speed”. He added that there will be more to quickly follow.

In his parting words, he told the Biden administration to not lose the respect that he built for the country during his time in the White House.
