Manika Sheokand from Haryana was crowned as the VLCC Femina Miss Grand India 2020, while Manya Singh from UP was declared as the runner-up of this celebrated beauty pageant.
For Manya Singh, a rickshaw driver’s daughter this victory was somewhat extra-sweet after several sleepless nights and after several years of intense hard work. Manya had opened up in the past regarding the struggles she experienced on the path towards success, stating that she wished to motivate others by utilizing the platform offered by Miss India to speak about her unique journey.
"My blood, sweat, and tears have amalgamated into the courage to pursue my dreams," she stated in one of the posts shared by Miss India’s official Instagram page way back in the month of December.
Manya was born in Kushinagar of UP. In her story, Manya informed that she grew up under very tough circumstances and had to go without food and sleep for nights. Also, she informs how she had to walk for many miles just to save few pennies. She always craved for clothes and books that weren’t within her budget but wasn’t lucky enough to have them.
Her parents had to mortgage whatever meager amount of jewelry they owned in order to pay for her exam fee. "She believes that education is the strongest weapon one can have with themselves at all times," said Miss India in a post about the talented Manya shared a month back.
"Doted on by her mother, she has won the Best Student award during her HSC. She has struggled a lot in life to date, from not being able to pay her school fees, not being able to afford books, and being neglected by her classmates for being an auto driver's daughter," revealed the post further.
Through her post, Manya informed all how she made use of the daytime to study, evening to wash utensils and the night to earn her living by working at a call center. "I've walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare," she shared.
"I am here today at the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 stage to uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother and to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams."
The organization of ‘Miss India’ expressed its thankfulness to Manya for "sharing her story of struggle and hard work" and praised her for being an outstanding inspiration to many others.
