Flipkart has declared that it will be deploying more than 25,000 power-driven vehicles by the year 2030 as the e-commerce giant is making a transition to the inclusion of electrical vehicles in its logistic fleets across the city. It will furthermore assist in setting up charging infrastructure across its goods delivery hubs as well as its offices in order to fast-track the scheme of adopting electrical vehicles (EVs) in the country. The company has already initiated the deployment of two-wheeler as well as three-wheeler electrical vehicles in several locations for the purpose of delivering goods across India, including Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru among all others. The electrical fleet owned by Flipkart includes a host of EVs that are both designed as well as assembled in the country with the purpose of supporting local innovation.

Flipkart has entered into a tie-up with the top manufacturer of electric vehicles, including Hero Electric (for NYX Series), Piaggio (for Ape E'Xtra), Mahindra Electric (Tre electrical three-wheeler). The deployment of the EVs is likely to take place for its first as well as last-mile fleet across India.

"Electric mobility can benefit multiple ecosystem stakeholders, not just in e-commerce but in many other industries. Electrification of the logistics fleet is a key part of Flipkart's larger sustainability goal and in line with our commitment to the Climate Group's EV100 initiative. In this journey of making our logistics fleet completely electric by 2030, we will collaborate and work with leading local players to procure and deploy Electric Vehicles while supporting the required infrastructure growth. We understand the relevance of electric mobility in achieving both business and sustainability goals and are committed to paving the way for greater adoption of EVs across the country," said Amitesh Jha, Senior VP- Ekart & Marketplace, Flipkart

The company is also likely to place needs in service contracts, and set up charging infrastructure in the vicinity to the 1400 facilities pertaining to the supply chain, and also conduct an awareness program and further encourage the delivery executives to utilize the EVs.
