After the restart of the first innings on Day 2 of the fourth and final Test against England at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad on Friday, India was on 80/4 at lunch break.
India had bowled out the opposing team at 205 in the third session of play earlier, in the opening day the English batsmen struggled to fight a losing battle.
The majority of the damage was inflicted on England by Indian bowlers Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin who took four and three wickets respectively.
On the second day, India resumed playing on 24/1 with Rohit Sharma (32*) and Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle order. However, England soon got back on the leadership path in the match when they eliminated three crucial wickets of Pujara (17), Virat Kohli (0), and Ajinkya Rahane (27) in the very first session by bowlers Jack Leach, Ben Stokes, and James Anderson respectively.
Currently, Rishabh Pant is standing unbeaten and is looking at building a partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin. Rohit Sharma however, fell short of the half-century mark and lost his wicket to Ben Stokes after the lunch recess.
Prior to this decimation, on Day 1, India had scored 24 for one losing the wicket of Shubman Gill, who fell to delivery by Anderson. The top-scored on England’s side was Stokes with 55 runs.

March 5, 2021, 1.55 pm (IST): Great delivery by Stokes, and Ashwin directs the ball towards square leg. It is under-armed in the direction of the stumps by Bairstow but Pant manages to dive back in, just in time as per the review. Single run.

March 5, 2021, 1.47 pm (IST): Pant hits to midwicket for one more run as Leach hurled outside-off.
March 5, 2021, 1.45 pm (IST): Pant gets a single as he guides the ball to the Third man after Stokes’ delivery from round the wicket.
