South superstar Mohanlal took his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday from Amrita Hospital in Kerala.

The Malayalam actor happens to be the first in their fraternity to have taken the vaccine. He was recently seen in the film, “Drishyam 2”. It was directly released on Amazon Prime and skipped theatres completely.

The actor shared his experience with fans on social media. He wrote, “He wrote: “Took the First Shot of Covid Vaccine from Amrita Hospital. I take this opportunity to thank the Government of India, the companies which are producing the vaccine & the medical fraternity, including all hospitals, for their relentless assistance and cooperation shown towards the COVID Vaccination Drive.”

Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 2’ was the first film of this year that skipped theatrical release completely and premiered directly on Amazon Prime. He plays the endearing character in the sequel, George Kutty, which had risen to instant popularity when the first part was released.

About the OTT release of the movie, Mohanlal said in a statement, “Drishyam was one-of-a-kind thriller film, way ahead of its time, that was loved by all. With Drishyam 2, we are taking the story of George Kutty and his family ahead from where we left it off. I am delighted to associate with Amazon Prime Video to release one of the most-awaited movies of the year.”

‘Drishyam 2’ also brings together famous South Indian filmmakers Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal. According to sources, the duo has again come together for the making of a Malayalam thriller titled Ram. The makers of the upcoming film have also released a title poster of it when the announcement of the project was made.

Jeethu Joseph however has announced recently that work on Ram had been stalled by them in order to complete Drishyam 2.
