Actor Kangana’s name has been hitting the headlines across a couple of months due to her bold comments and indomitable spirit. She stood out as the most articulate actor of the B-town especially during the Sushant Singh Rajput case when she did not hesitate to come on National TV and present before all the ugly side of Bollywood; the nepotism side. That made Kangana rather famous among the common people and even increased the actor’s fan following tenfold.
Recently, actor Kangana Ranaut stated on her social media post that talk-show host and actress Simi Garewal had conducted an insightful interview with the late J Jayalalithaa. Kangana is playing the politician in her latest movie- Thalaivi, slated for release on April 23.
While Kangana was full of praises for Garewal, she did not hesitate in taking a dig at filmmaker and yet another talk show host Karan Johar, all in the same breath.
The comments came in response to a fan’s tweets where they shared a YouTube video of Garewal’s interview with Jayalalithaa and said that everyone ought to watch it before the movie Thalaivi.
Garewal’s poise and grace was lauded loudly by the user.
Kangana completely agreed with the Twitter user’s comments and stated that Garewal portrayed the “real essence of a celebrity”. She also wrote that the interview that Garewal had with the politician went a long way in helping her prepare for the role.

She then took a parallel stance and slammed filmmaker Karan Johar saying, “Same can't be said about certain Papa Jo whose interviews are all about bitching, bullying, gossip and frustrated sex. (sic)”
Kanagana had been alluding to Karan Johar’s long-standing and much-talked-about show Koffee With Karan where she had also called Johar the “flagbearer of nepotism.”
To this day, the episode of Simi Garewal’s renowned talk shows Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, where politician J Jayalalithaa was interviewed, remains iconic. The show had started in 1997 and had gone on for five seasons. Among her guests were famous Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, actresses Rekha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and industrialist Ratan Tata.
Jayalalithaa had featured on the show of the Karz actress in 1999.
In 2016, when the politician had died, excerpts from the interview were aired by various news channels. There were several candid moments in it where the leader had spoken about her life’s struggles, her glorious acting career and then her journey in the world of politics and about the name and fame she had earned in the course of her journey.
“I don't think anyone has taken more criticism than I have,” she had said.
