A British trial of the coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca on children has been suspended according to the Oxford University as regulators across the globe are still assessing and researching on its link with the rare blood clots in the brain seen in some adults who were administered with the covid vaccine. The University, which was also a party involved in the development of the Covid-19 vaccine, said in a statement that although there are “no safety concerns” in the trial, there are certain underlying concerns of a possible link with the unwanted blood clots. They said that they are awaiting additional data from Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) before restarting the study.

The Gondia district in Maharashtra might experience a halt in its vaccination drive as it has run out of the covid vaccine stocks after Tuesday’s vaccination programme. This is despite the government’s repeated assurances of sufficient vaccine stocks to ensure there is no shortage of the doses to be meted out to people. Other areas in the state including Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim, all in the state’s Amravati division, along with Nagpur Rural and the city’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), have only enough stock to last one more day. From Thursday, they too will have to stop the vaccination programme. As per a state official, the state government of Maharashtra has not been relishing the vaccine stocks on a regular basis.

In a recent meeting of the IMA with the Pune Covid task force and heath officials belonging to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), members of the Indian Medical Association said the drug Remdesivir can be given to carefully picked home-isolated patients who are not admitted in hospitals, on an OPD basis either at clinics or hospitals. At the moment, this anti-viral drug is administered to only the patients who are hospitalized.
