Daniel Sams, the Australian All-rounder playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team of the IPL has tested Covid positive on this Wednesday just ahead of the start of the IPL on 9th of April, 2021. Sams happens to be the second of the RCB players who got infected with the much dreaded coronavirus.

As per a statement posted by Royal Challengers Bangalore on twitter, Sams, the all-rounder, aged 28 years had reached India on the 3rd of April and that time he had a negative covid report. He had joined the RCB team on that very day. But during the subsequent covid testing in accordance with the IPL SOPs his results were positive! The venue for the second round of tests was the team hotel room.

"His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility," stated the RCB.

"Royal Challengers Bangalore medical team is in constant touch with Daniel Sams and continue to monitor his health and abide by the BCCI protocols."

Sams was previously playing for Delhi Capitals. This year he became a part of the RCB team and after the left-handed opener, Devdutt Padikkal, he is the second RCB player to get infected with the coronavirus. Padikkal had tested positive for the deadly covid virus on March 22nd and had been quarantine since then at his home in the city of Bengaluru

Padikkal, however, has recovered from his infection and has tested negative in the latest testing round and therefore has re-joined the RCB team. In this context, the RCB said: "We are pleased to inform that Royal Challengers Bangalore, Left-handed Batsman Devdutt Paddikal, has joined the team on 7th April 2021 with negative reports for COVID-19 as per BCCI protocols. RCB medical team was in constant touch with Devdutt to ensure his safety and well-being."

Also, Padikkal stated through a video posted on Twitter by team RCB: "As per BCCI and IPL protocol, I had to quarantine at home for two weeks. Now I have joined the camp after two negative tests, and I am feeling completely fine now, and I just can't wait to get back out there and join the RCB camp."

On this Tuesday, Kiran More, the talent scout & wicket-keeping consultant of the Mumbai Indians had a positive covid test report but the rest of the defending team members had negative covid report.
