Total lockdown imposed in many parts of the country in the wake of the recent surge in Covid cases.

Delhi will impose a week long lockdown in view of the current surge in covid cases as per an announcement made by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal today.
The lockdown will commence from 10pm tonight and as per the state government’s decision, will last until 6pm of the following Monday (26th of April).
The Chief Minister has declared that essential services, food services, medical services will continue, while weddings can be held with a gathering of only 50 people at the wedding party or during the ceremonies. The Chief Minister further pledged to “improve health system” in the course of this one week.
The state of Maharashtra has already imposed stringent lockdown-like restrictions for some time now; in the state of Gujarat the experts have called for a 15-day self-imposed lockdown; the government of the state of Rajasthan has asked for an immediate closure of offices and markets until the 3rd of May, 2021.

After the Centre’s announcement came out where they declared that everyone over the age of 18 will be eligible to receive Covid-19 vaccines from May 1, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressed his gratitude for Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for taking into account his request to make the inoculation drive more expansive.
As the Covid-19 situation gets grim by the day, the BJP declared that no more large scale political rallies including those hosted by the PM himself, will be held in the state of West Bengal where assembly elections are underway. The announcement came after the party has been on the receiving end of brickbats for some time now from rivals for the rallies its leaders were holding in West Bengal on gigantic scales, even as the country is seeing daily spikes in the number of new cases of coronavirus over the past month.
Home Minister of Haryana Anil Vij, who is also the state’s Health Minister, said they will conduct coronavirus tests on the pilgrims returning from the Haridwar Kumbh Mela and the farmers protesting at the state borders with Delhi. He once again assured the migrant workers that the state was not going to impose any lockdowns.
The state of West Bengal has logged its highest single day spike in new cases of Covid-19 ever since the covid pandemic began with 8,426 new covid infections on this Monday. With 38 deaths due to covid, the total number of covid-triggered fatalities in the state has touched 10,606. 4,608 recoveries have been recorded in the state over the last 24 hours.
