Social media supremo Facebook has launched a new transfer information tool that allows users in data portability. This novel feature will let the users of Facebook shift status posts and notes to various other services including Google Docs, Blogger, and WordPress.
The point that needs to be noted by Facebook users intending to apply this feature is that it is only the notes and the posts that they will be able to transfer and not the comments that are there on individual posts.
In order to ensure that data between the two services continue to stay encrypted, Facebook has decided to make users re-enter their passwords before the transfer commences. That’ll prevent unwanted data leakage and corruption of data.
The company said in a blog post, "We’re introducing two new data portability types, Facebook posts, and notes. People can now directly transfer their notes and posts to Google Docs, Blogger, and WordPress.com." They added, "These updates extend the reach of the tool that already enables people to transfer their photos and videos to Backblaze, Dropbox, Google Photos, and Koofr."
The following steps can be adapted to access the tool:

In the past, Facebook has received flak for its monopolistic attitude. It is now believed by law experts that this move whereby data can be transferred to other platforms, will enhance opportunities for growth for them by opening social media space when users migrate to these platforms.
Facebook is also promoting laws related to data portability and is making use of this new feature to exhibit the process of secure flow of data across platforms with the help of firm guidelines.
Facebook public policy manager Bijan Madhani said that they intend to further develop this particular tool and increase the number of destinations where users can transfer their data. Moreover, he added, the company will also work towards maintaining the integrity of the tool by keeping a tab on account activity to check if it is run by bots.
