As the coronavirus situation in India continues to paint a bleaker picture every day, the country recorded over 3.14 lakh new cases on Thursday. This is the highest single day spike recorded anywhere ever since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health, 2,104 people died of covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours.

With more than 30 lakh vaccine doses administered on Thursday, the total number of Covid-19 vaccinations in India has surpassed 13.5 crore, beneficiaries including 92,41,384 healthcare workers who have taken the first dose, 59,03,368 HCWs who have taken the second dose, 1,17,27,708 frontline workers who have received the first dose and 60,73,622 FLWs who have taken the second dose.

Amid significant surges in Covid-19 cases, Canada has banned passenger flights from India and Pakistan for a month.

As per health officials, the Indian variant of coronavirus has been detected in Belgium.

The Indian air Force has reported that they had two C-17 airlift two empty Linde cryogenic oxygen containers and one IL-76 airlift one empty Inox container. These are Covid testing set up load that were carried to Leh for the UT of Ladakh and to Panagarh (West Bengal) respectively.

A pharmacist from Kondhwa has been arrested by the police for black marketing of Remdesivir medicine. According to initial probes by Crime Branch, Pune City, it has been found that he had stolen doctor's prescription from Covid-19 patients and purchased Remdesivir on the basis of that from government hospital drugstore.

In a similar incident, Lucknow police apprehended four people that includes two doctors in a case of black marketing and hoarding of the drug Remdesivir. They seized 34 vials of the drug from the group on Thursday night in Thakurganj area.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that the state government will provide free vaccination to all above the age of 18.

Manoj Tiwari, the former Delhi BJP president, star campaigner for the party and second term MP from Delhi's North East Lok Sabha constituency has isolated himself in his Delhi residence after testing positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. He does not have any symptoms. Soon after receiving his test reports, Tiwari called off his two political rallies scheduled in West Bengal.

Delhi, Pune and Punjab report 26,169, 9,841 and 5,456 fresh Covid-19 cases respectively in the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths being 306, 115 and 76 respectively.
