Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), was fined Rs 12 lakhs on Sunday for his team's slow over-rate against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium. As the MS Dhoni-led side thrashed RCB by 69 runs, Ravindra Jadeja hit 37 runs in the final over of CSK's innings before returning to pick three wickets. CSK scored 191 in their allotted 20 overs after the all-rounder smashed 62 runs in just 28 balls, including five sixes and four fours. RCB responded with a score of 122/9, their first loss in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
"RCB captain Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL 2021 match against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 25," the IPL said in a statement.
Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakhs for his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, according to the report.
On Tuesday, RCB will face Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
