Royal Challengers Bangalore team led by Captain Virat Kohli stole the show yesterday as they beat Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals by all of 1 run at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Despite the DC shipper and Shimron Hetmyer’s smashing fifties, the Bangalore team saw themselves home with some stellar performances.

After Delhi Captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl, Bangalore batsman AB de Villiers thrashed out 73 runs from 41 balls taking the team total to 171/5 after 20 overs. The 37-year old South African has been commanding his position as a dominating batsman against some of the best bowlers in the world. He made some impressive hits with three fours and five sixes.

After yesterday’s performance, de Villiers also became the second cricketer from overseas to reach 5000 runs in the IPL. He was showered with gushing praises that flooded social media after his brilliant batting display, especially from SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner.

The Australian player also happens to be the only other foreign player to score more than 5,000 runs in the tournament.

He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "Legend @ABdeVilliers17 my idol".

Others like Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell also made crucial contributions for the Bangalore side scoring 31 and 25 runs respectively.

Match proceedings had to be halted for some time after RCB's innings due to a sandstorm. RCB even took to social media and made a joke of it stating “That ABD innings has led to a sandstorm” and “Waiting for the dust to settle from all the chaos AB caused.”

Delhi lost the match by just one run as they managed to reach only 170 after their 20 overs. The RCB victory also propelled them to a lucrative position on the points table while Delhi tumbled down to the fourth slot.

Pant’s team was already finding itself out of the league after the 16th over of their innings when the captain was visibly grappling to get some big hits.

In the final over, bowler Mohammad Siraj was faced with the task of defending 13 runs and despite Pant hitting two final fours in the last two balls, he failed to cross the line with only one run remaining.
