Realme has postponed its launch event in India scheduled on May 4 in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.
The company, as per their announcement on Tuesday, was expected to launch India’s first phone with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 phone (Realme X7 Max) and a new Realme TV on May 4th.
However, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has announced an indefinite postponement of the May 4 launch with no future launch date for the new Realme X7 Max set forth. The company was also planning to celebrate its 3-year anniversary celebrations, which is also getting called off in tandem.
In a Twitter post, Realme supremo Madhav Sheth wrote, “After careful consideration, #realme has decided to postpone the upcoming smartphone and AIoT products’ launch along with anniversary celebrations. In these difficult times, let’s focus on contributing as much as possible. Stay home, Stay strong! We will be back soon.”

The CEO also attached a small note to his social media post wherein he urged all countrymen to adhere to proper Covid-19 safety protocols. “Request you all to focus on your families and yourselves. It is time for us to stick together and support each other as one community,” it read.
The Realme X7 Max, which was to make its first appearance next month, is said to be a rebrand of the Realme GT Neo that launched in China in March this year.
The model features a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate and corner punch-hole camera. The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC coupled up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card.
The handset runs on Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 custom skin on top and has an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. It comes with a 4,500mAh battery and is fuelled by a 50W fast-charging support.
The Realme GT Neo has triple cameras at the back, that consist of a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 2MP camera. It has a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.
Its connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfers. Realme GT Neo dimensions are 8.4mm in thickness and weigh 179 grams.
