India is suffering its second wave of the pandemic. Cases are soaring everywhere and many are losing their loved ones to the deadly, loathsome virus. The picture is grim all around right now. According to health ministry’s reports, about 3,689 infected patients succumbed to the deadly virus across the span of the last 24 hours, pushing the covid death toll to about 215,542. Our country on this Sunday recorded 392,488 covid cases within just 24 hours, thus, propelling the infection count beyond 19.5 millions. With this present status, the country’s net covid tally has reached 19,557,457.

Number of discharges in the span of last 24 hours stood at 307,865 and the number of recoveries made so far from this fatal viral disease is 15,992,271. With this, the recovery rate in the country reached 81.84%, revealed the data from the health ministry.

According to the info furnished by the Union ministry of health and family welfare on this Sunday about 84,599 people within the age group of 18yrs-44yrs have received their first vaccine dose on this Saturday. Among the vaccinated lot the number of people who were administered the vaccine’s first dose stood at 9, 89,700 while the rest of the 6.85 lakhs got their second vaccine dose. The net tally of countrywide vaccinations on the inoculation drive’s 106th day has soared beyond 15.66 crore.

On this Sunday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) declared that about 29, 01, 42,339 samples were tested in the country until 1st of May 1 for the covid infection. Among these, 18, 04,954 samples got tested yesterday.

10 states of the country have been red-flagged by the Union Health Ministry for contributing to the maximum number of cases in India. The states red-flagged are Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.
