After the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) camp decided to bar David Warner from the captaincy role on Saturday, a lot has been said and written (May 1). What followed was even more surprising for cricket fans around the world, as Warner was left out of the playing XI for SRH's match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday (May 2). As a result, many former cricketers and analysts have been perplexed as to what led to such a situation for Warner, who is still regarded as an IPL legend and has led the SRH franchise with aplomb since 2015. In 2016, he also guided them to their first championship. As a result, New Zealand's former cricketer-turned-commentator Simon Doull spoke out about Warner's dismissal, claiming that Warner's remarks about Manish Pandey's absence may have played a role in his dismissal. "I believe there must have been a squabble somewhere along the lines, and it wasn't with the team; it had to be with the coaching structure."

It was not his decision to leave Manish Pandey out after what he said in that game, and he didn't want to do it obviously. And you essentially passed the buck, you blamed it on someone else, and I believe he has paid the price for it,” Doull told Cricbuzz.

“That dynamic... you fire a coach, Tom Moody, hire Trevor Bayliss, and then rehire Tom Moody to manage your cricket. I'm not sure how the relationship would work out. And I'm wondering if one [win] in every six (6) is a direct product of the partnership failing... And now, according to the press release, he [David Warner] would not even play, which is even stranger,” Doull added.

Since Manish Pandey hasn't been at his best since the start of the IPL 2021, the Orange Army decided to drop him from the playing XI, which Warner didn't like. Following SRH's Super Over loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 25, Warner said of Manish's dismissal, "It depends on the selectors, it was a harsh call in my view" (On leaving out Manish Pandey).

But, at the end of the day, it's their decision, and you can't fault Virat because he's a great player and the surface was difficult."

Though the real reason for Warner's dismissal and removal is yet to be disclosed by the SRH camp, Hyderabad's Director of Cricket Operations Tom Moody has indicated that the franchise might not look at Warner for the rest of the season.

David Warner's comments on Manish Pandey's omission, according to Simon Doull, contributed to his dismissal as SRH captain. "Firstly, he's not going to play in this game and that's simply a decision based on the combination," SRH Director of Cricket Operations and former head coach Tom Moody told the broadcasters on the eve of the game on Sunday (May 2), after confirming Warner's absence for the RR clash. We took a good look at it. Obviously, Bairstow's and Williamson's form is at an all-time high, and we are very pleased with the way they are playing. However, we had to make a difficult decision, and someone had to miss out, which is Davey (Warner) on this occasion. He's done a decent job so far.

Despite Kane Williamson taking over from Warner, the SRH camp's problems haven't gone away, as they were defeated by RR by 55 runs on Sunday and remain at the bottom of the points table with just one win from seven matches.
