Celebrated actor, Farhan Akhtar has recently announced that his upcoming movie Toofan’s release will probably be delayed as the country is currently reeling under the challenge of the coronavirus. The movie ‘Toofan’ was scheduled for streaming on the platform of Amazon Prime Video from the 21st of May, 2021. The director of the movie is Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and its producer is Ritesh Sidhwani. The movie is produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment and is basically a sports drama.

“The situation in India is truly heart-breaking, and we at Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures send our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the pandemic. In light of the severity of the situation, our focus is completely on the pandemic and on supporting our employees, their families and in helping the wider community. Therefore, we have taken the decision to postpone the release of our film ‘Toofaan’ until the situation improves. We will issue an update regarding the new release date in due course of time,” said the actor in one of his statements.

He also advised his fans and followers to abide by all the necessary precautions in the face of the increasing covid case numbers. “Please continue to observe Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Also. please register and get vaccinated when it’s your turn. On behalf of the entire team of Toofaan, we urge you to Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay United. Jai Hind,” wrote the actor.

The actor acts in the role of a national-level boxer in the movie. Previously the movie ‘Toofan’ was supposed to get released in the month of October in 2020 but got delayed because of the covid pandemic. The movie stands for the second collaborative venture between Director Rakeysh and Actor Farhan. The two had previously collaborated for the movie, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a popular biopic telling the life story of Milkha Singh, a famed athlete.

“Toofan is a story that will motivate and inspire all of us to get out of comfort zones and fight towards achieving our dreams. We cannot wait to present our film to viewers across the globe,” Director Rakeysh had told the ANI in the past. Actor Farhan Akhtar was seen last in the movie of 2019 ‘The Sky Is Pink’, in which Priyanka Chopra had been his co-star.
