BJP Spokesperson Accuses Congress of Using Toolkit to Tarnish PM’s Image

Sambit Patra hurls accusations of tarnishing the PM’s image towards Congress party

Accusations continue to be hurtled on the Indian political front as the Bharatiya Janata Party now accuses the Opposition of stooping low to tarnish the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling the new Covid-19 mutant strain, the ‘Modi strain’.

As the coronavirus pandemic rages across the country in its inexorable second wave, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said on Tuesday that the Congress, by instructing their party workers and social media volunteers to call the new virus variant the ‘Modi strain’ or the ‘India strain’, is destroying the reputation of the Prime Minister and the country.

Patra said, the toolkit clearly shows what the intentions of the Congress party are, how they are resorting on the pandemic to spread misinformation and strengthen their position in these dire times.

Patra also said, the Congress party members had resorted to the use of multiple tactics to corrode the image of PM Narendra Modi. They, according to him, had instructed their workers to spread word that the Kumbh Mela was a super-spreader event and also asked them not to share pictures of markets buzzing with activity around Eid and people were out shopping and celebrating.

While the World Health Organization does not want to name the new strain of the virus after India, the Congress surely intends to, said Patra.

The BJP leader also charged the Congress party with heightening the current crisis by putting the images of dead bodies to their use and also marring the country’s image with the help of foreign journalists.

“My heart aches to see that the Congress is using the deceased for its toolkit. It is urging volunteers to use dependable words for Modi so that it becomes acceptable,” he said.

Earlier in the day, in his Twitter post, Patra wrote, “Friends look at the #CongressToolKit in extending help to the needy during the Pandemic! More of a PR exercise with the help of “Friendly Journalists” & “Influencers” than a soulful endeavor. Read for yourselves the agenda of the Congress.”

He also wrote, “Disgusting to say the least …Rahul Gandhi wanting to use this opportunity of Pandemic to destroy the image of PM Modi. Congress workers instructed to call the mutant strain as “Modi strain” No stone left unturned to scar the name of India with the help of Foreign Journalists!!”
