The wicketkeeper – batsman for the Indian team wrote “Whenever I am feeling down in life, I just think of you, because your smile lights up my life. Happy birthday my dearest, Mia.” He also shared a picture of the family with wife and younger child along with the birthday girl and Saha himself in what seemed to be their home, in the post.
Saha recently recovered from a bout of Covid-19 infection that he had contracted while the Indian Premier League 2021 was underway. The tournament had to be shelved for the time being after several members within the bio-bubble associated with the season, Saha included, tested positive for Covid-19.
Saha, an ace player on the Indian cricketing squad, is also slated to be part of the upcoming finale of the World Test Championship (WTC) where skipper Virat Kohli's team will face New Zealand. The match is to be played the in UK and expected to begin on June 18.
He is also likely to make it to the team that is to play the five-match Test series against England in the days to come.
Even though the 36-year old wicketkeeper had recuperated from his recent illness in time, the selection committee for the BCCI went ahead and picked KS Bharat to cover for him on the team as they wanted to take no chances.
Besides Saha, there were other crucial players participating in the Indian Premier League who also contracted the Covid-19 infection. These included Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Michael Hussey and Lakshmipathy Balaji among others. Now, some other players have also tested positive for the dreaded virus such as Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Varun Chakaravarthy, Sandeep Warrier and Prasidh Krishna.
Saha however had a disappointing stint in this season of the IPL along with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team also saw a change in captain as David Warner got replaced by Kane Williamson to lead it. They managed only one win out of the seven matches that they played until the tournament finally got suspended due to the surge in Covid-19 cases.
