The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has put up a stunning image on their social media page on May 21, of a galaxy cluster. The picture has been captured by the Hubble Telescope and has left netizens mesmerized with its beauty.

The galaxy cluster ACO S 295, which is 3.5 billion light-years away from the Earth, is present in the middle of other galaxies and a similar number of stars.

NASA wrote in a Tweet, “It's time to peer into the universe...  This @NASAHubble. image is swarming with galaxies housing an abundance of new worlds!”

In the image that has been shared by the US space agency on Twitter, the galaxy cluster ACO S 295 which dominated the central position both physically and visually in the image, has been showcased along with a glistening multitude of background galaxies and stars.

In their blog post, NASA said that galaxies of all shapes and sizes can be viewed in the image, and these range from spirals to fuzzy elliptical.

They also added, “In addition to providing astronomers with a natural magnifying glass with which to study distant galaxies, gravitational lensing has subtly framed the center of this image, producing a visually striking scene.”

The space agency said in a statement, “This galactic menagerie boasts a range of orientations and sizes, with spiral galaxies such as the one at the center of this image appearing almost face on, and some edge-on spiral galaxies visible only as thin slivers of light.”

The statement also mentioned that the cluster, with its immense mass, has “gravitationally lensed the light from background galaxies, distorting and smearing their shapes.” They also stated that besides providing astronomers with a “natural magnifying glass with which to study distant galaxies, gravitational lensing has subtly framed the center of this image, producing a visually striking scene.”

The comments section of the post has been deluged with observations expressed by excited viewers. It attracted over 4,000 likes and 891 Retweets on Twitter by amazed netizens. One viewer commented, “His beautiful pictures are a great achievement." Another user commented, "Words cannot express the greatness and beauty. thank you, Hubble.” Yet another Twitter user wrote, “I get chills looking at images like these. How insignificant are we?”
