Australian cricketer Steve Smith recently celebrated his 32nd birthday when several members of the cricket fraternity from across the world sent his good wishes.

Born on June 2, 1989 in Sydney, the former Australian captain has not only carved an enviable place on his home team across all formats of the game but has also unquestionably instituted himself as one of the best batsmen of his generation.

The right-handed batsman received effusive wishes from his cricket friends all over the globe on the occasion.

His IPL franchise Delhi Capitals took to Twitter to wish their star player. They posted a collage of Smith's photos in the DC jersey along with a heartfelt caption and called the Aussie one of the best batsmen in the world and asked him to never change.

“Here's wishing one of the world's finest batters and an unapologetic cricket nuffy, @stevesmith49, a very Happy Birthday. Never change, Smudge.”

Smith, a former captain to the IPL team, Rajasthan Royals was later taken in by the Delhi Capitals side just before the 14th season of the league. It is however yet to be affirmed whether the player will be available for the second phase of now shelved event.

As per reports from Australia, the players there are most likely to circumvent the remainder of the matches of this season of the IPL due to a packed schedule. Besides that, Cricket Australia is reported to be still deliberating on sending their players for IPL 2021 as they are apprehensive of the situation.

A publication in Sydney has even mentioned the decision by star pacer Pat Cummins to give the rest of the IPL matches a miss this season. The situation is still uncertain with regards to the participation of other players from England and New Zealand as well.

A star player from the Australian side, Steve Smith has maintained an admirable record all through with 7540 runs at a lightning average of 61.8 with 27 centuries 31 fifties in 77 Tests. He has also accumulated 4378 and 794 runs in 128 ODIs and 45 T20Is respectively. Moreover, he has 11 ODI centuries, 25 ODI half-centuries and four T20I fifties.
