India logged 92,596 fresh cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours as per data released by the Union Health ministry on Wednesday. The figures show a slight movement upward from what was recorded a day earlier, 86,498, the lowest count in 63 days.

Recording a positivity rate that is under 10% for 16 days in a row, it now stands at 4.67%.

According to a statement released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the work done by them has been highly appreciated by a team that works for the Delhi government and will be soon implemented at the national capital to curb the spread of Covid-19. It has been termed the ‘Mumbai Model’.

Bihar on Wednesday recorded a drastic revival in its number of fatalities due to coronavirus with the death toll now standing at 9,429 in the state.

Chhattisgarh reported 954 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday taking the total caseload in the state to 9,83,916. With 14 fresh deaths due to the infection, the total number of fatalities reached 13,271, as per a state health official. The state also recorded a total of 9,52,532 recoveries after 412 people were discharged from various hospitals during the day and 1,486 others completed their home isolation.

The Union Health Ministry’s data revealed that the country administered Covid-19 vaccine doses to more than 24 crore people across the country so far.

For the fourth consecutive day now, Nagaland has recorded more recoveries from Covid-19 than new infections. Their highest single day recovery till date was recorded on Wednesday with 965 patients getting discharged. The number of new cases logged that day was 186. The last instance when the north eastern state reported the highest single-day recovery was on May 21 when 225 patients were cured of the disease.
