Jitin Prasada exits from Congress; Congress drops a message to Sachin Pilot

Congress may ultimately address Pilot’s demands…learn more…

Thursday, 10th June 2021

On Wednesday Jitin Prasada quitted the Congress party to join the BJP. Soon after this, all eyes were on Sachin Pilot. The question that every mind had was ‘Will Sachin Pilot be the next one after Jyotiraditya Scindia and then Jitin Prasada?’

Sachin Pilot had revolted last year and his demands haven’t been addressed still by the Congress party leadership. After Jitin’s switch over to BJP, the party had a distinct message for Pilot.

"There has to be a turnaround time. Sachin Pilot has to be patient," said Supriya Srinate, a chief Congress spokesperson. She clearly articulated that the Congress party has already posted him in an important position; i.e. that of the youngest deputy CM.

The revolt of Sachin Pilot against Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan CM and Pilot’s near-exit was held as a result of BJP party’s master plan to bring about a downfall of the Congress government in Rajasthan. He backed down finally post meeting with ‘Congress’ Gandhis and informed the media that the party had promised him a course-correction.

That hasn’t happened yet, he reminded the Congress party leaders on this Monday during an interview.

"It has now been 10 months. I was given to understand that there would be swift action by the committee, but now half of the term is done, and those issues haven't been resolved. It is unfortunate that so many of the party workers who worked and gave their all for getting us the mandate are not being heard," Mr. Sachin Pilot stated.

After putting the decision off for quite some time now, the Congress party once again faces the difficult challenge of meeting the demands of both the Rajasthan CM and Mr. Sachin Pilot.

An expansion of the cabinet in Rajasthan in order to make more space from the Camp of Sachin Pilot is one of the solutions, provided Mr. Gehlot is ready for it. The demand happens to be in pending status still but for multiple reasons, the CM isn’t ready for it.

A three-member party panel was formed to manage Mr Sachin Pilot's demands but the panel last met in August 2020 and never after that, informed sources. One of the members of the panel, Ahmed Patel- Sonia Gandhi’s main troubleshooter- passed away due to covid in the month of November.

The State of Rajasthan stand-off of the Congress party began when Mr. Sachin Pilot, along with the various MLAs in his support, departed from the Jaipur city and checked into one of the hotels near Delhi. In the following weeks, Mr Ashok Gehlot and Mr Sachin Pilot each attempted to win over the MLAs to their respective sides in order to prepare for a possible strength trial.

Mr Gehlot emerged victorious, claiming the majority support of enough MLAs to remain in power. Finally Sachin Pilot declared that he is coming back to Rajasthan after he had been assured by the Congress leadership of considering and addressing his grievances.
