WTC Final INDIA Vs NEW ZEALAND Match Dismissal Updates

Wednesday, 23rd June 2021

Team India found its way back into the game after Mohammad Shami exhibited incisive swing bowling. However, the Kiwis managed to set them back by removing both the openers on Day 5 of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton. The match is headed towards an interesting sixth and final day.

Shami, with his stellar performance with the ball got four wickets for his team, giving them a momentary edge over the opponents who were taken out for 249 runs. However, the heads up was short lived as Indian batsman Rohit Sharma got out after scoring 30 runs due to a miscalculation of Tim Southee's delivery that got him trapped.

Next, Shubham Gill also failed to show any spark and was taken out after adding 8 runs to the board setting the Indian team back despite the hard work of the bowlers. With Gill's dismissal, India closed the fifth day of the match at 64 for 2 with a lead of 32 runs, as they erased a 32-run deficit.

Captain Virat Kohli joined Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle order and will be seen in action as the match goes into the reserve day on Wednesday.

Ishant Sharma was also seen blowing off steam as he dismissed two New Zealanders from the crease and helped restrict the score at 249.
