Coronavirus Status in Maharashtra: Cases Rose From a Four-Month Low on Monday to 8,470 New Infections a Day Later

What is the current status of Covid in the state of Maharashtra?

With 8,470 new cases of coronavirus infections logged on Tuesday, the cumulative figure in Maharashtra rose to 59, 87,521. The state had recorded 6,270 cases of Covid-19 a day earlier, on Monday, the lowest single day count on the past four months.

According to data from the state Health Ministry, there were 188 fatalities due to Covid-19 on the day taking the death toll here to 1, 18,795. The number of deaths in the state a day earlier was 94.

Number of patients recovered from the disease and discharged from hospitals across the state on the day was 9,043 pushing the total number of recoveries in the state to 57,42,258.

Total number of active cases currently in Maharashtra is 1,23,340 while the rates of recovery and fatality stand at 95.9 per cent and 1.98 per cent respectively.

As per statement released by the health department, the state tested 2,16,861 people for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. With this, they have now conducted a total of 3,98,86,554 tests so far in the state for the disease since it began.

The data also mentioned specific details about the capital city Mumbai. Here the total caseload got pushed up to 7,21,099 with 568 fresh cases of Covid-19 getting added on Tuesday. The death toll also reached 15,315 in the city as they registered 10 cases of death on the day.

Number of new cases of Covid-19: 1,784

Number of deaths due to Covid-19 in 24 hours: 33

Total number of Covid-19 cases in the region: 15,79,123

Total number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the region: 31,401

Individual divisions:

Nashik division alone accounted for 662 case and 19 deaths as per the data.

Pune division: 2,206 cases and 37 deaths

Kolhapur division: 3,019 fresh cases and 66 deaths

Aurangabad division: 164 new cases and 5 deaths

Akola division: 254 cases and 5 deaths

Nagpur division: 69 infections and 8 deaths
