According to figures released on Monday by the Union Health Ministry, India had a single-day increase of 46,148 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,02,79,331, while daily fatalities were below 1000, bringing the total death count to 3,96,730.

In India, 979 people died as a result of COVID-19 in a single day, the lowest number in 76 days.

According to data released at 7 a.m., the total number of vaccine doses delivered in the country under the National Vaccination Drive has reached 32.36 crore.

"India reaches a new milestone in COVID-19 vaccination, surpassing the United States in total Covid vaccine doses administered," the ministry said.

The number of active cases has dropped to 5,72,994, accounting for 1.89 percent of all infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.80%, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

Over the course of 24 hours, the COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 13,409 cases.

On Sunday, 15,70,515 tests were carried out, bringing the total number of COVID-19 tests carried out in the country to 40,63,71,279.

Meanwhile, the country's immunisation rate is increasing, with an average of nearly 60 lakh vaccinations performed per day. However, it suffers a gender gap: 54 percent of men have got the vaccine compared to 46 percent of women, a difference of 8%. India has only 5% more men than women in terms of population.

Misinformation is a barrier for certain people. Saroj Gupta, 40, lives in a slum in Munirka, South-West Delhi, in a one-room abode. Her husband is a security guard, and they have four children together.
