Description: The ICC has confirmed that the T20 World Cup will be contested in the UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday that the T20 World Cup 2021 will be contested in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 to November 14. "Due to the current COVID-19 issue in India, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in the UAE and Oman," the ICC said in a statement. The tournament will now be held in four locations: Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. It was initially scheduled to be held in India.

The ICC affirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will continue to host the major tournament.

"Our top aim is to deliver the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 in a safe, complete, and timely manner.

While we are disappointed not to be hosting the event in India, the decision gives us the assurance we need to stage the event in a country that has a proven track record of holding multi-team events in a bio-secure environment," ICC interim CEO Geoff Allardyce was cited in the announcement as saying.

"The BCCI is excited to host the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 competition in the United Arab Emirates and Oman," said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. "We would have preferred to host it in India, but given the uncertainty surrounding the Covid 19 incident and the importance of a world championship, the BCCI has decided to hold the event in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
