With 43,733 new cases of coronavirus infections in India, the country’s cumulative cases reached 30,708,092. There were 930 deaths recorded yesterday that took the death toll to 405,054. Total number of patients who have recovered and got discharged from hospitals across the nation so far is 29,836,070 taking the rate of recovery up to 97.18%.

Nashik, Maharashtra on Wednesday saw an addition of 178 new cases of Covid-19 making the total figure in the district rise to 3,95,706. With 10 more deaths, the total fatalities here went up to 8,404 as per health officials. The recovery count also rose in Nashik to 3,85,488 with 219 patients recovering from the illness during the day.

According to reports from health officials in Ladakh, the Union Territory has successfully completed administering the first dose of vaccine to its entire adult population including all healthcare workers, frontline workers, th4 5-plus age group and the 18-44 category.

The country as a whole administered a total of 36.45 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses so far. On Wednesday alone, there were over 31,04,426 doses of vaccine that were given to beneficiaries.

Delhi reported 93 new Covid-19 infections and four more deaths. Positivity rate in the national capital is now at 0.12%.

In Karnataka, the total figures have touched 28,62,338 with the state reporting 2,743 new cases of Covid-19. 75 more deaths took the death toll to 35,601.

Uttarakhand reported their first detected case of the Delta Plus variant of coronavirus in a student who had been travelling from Lucknow to Udham Singh Nagar.

India has pinpointed a total of 174 districts where the variants of concern of the coronavirus have been detected, the highest concentrations being in Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat.

India is expecting to receive 3-4 million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines through the Covax facility by next month. Both shots are believed to cut down risk of contracting the infection by 91%. Those who still get the infection are said to have reduced severity on symptoms and duration.

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Audimulapu Suresh said the state has decided to reopen schools from August 16.

An alarmed Centre has written to the Himachal Pradesh government to impose more strict Covid-appropriate measures as sudden influx of tourists in the hills raise concerns of jeopardizing the gains made so far.
