Things to look at the Rath Yatra 2021.
Tuesday, 13th July 2021
On the occasion of Rath Yatra, we are studying some facts about ancient temples and Puri, a popular religious festival in India. This temple is an important pilgrimage site and one of Char Dhams. Although the festival attracts hundreds of believers each year, due to COVID19 restrictions, no believers are allowed to visit the website this time. Only those who have tested negative for COVID 19 can perform the pulling ceremony.
The chariot drawn on the occasion of Rath Yatra is made of neem wood. However, it was later dismantled and used as firewood for the temple kitchen. The temple offers Lord Prasad and then distributes it to his followers. The main chariot or Rath belonging to Lord Jagannath himself is 44 feet high; Barbadra's chariot is 43 feet high, and Subbadra's car is 42 feet high.

The door of the temple was closed a week before the start of the festival. It is believed that Lord Jagannath developed a fever during the period after bathing. The Rath yatra festival begins after the end of this week. The whole yatra process takes place when the Lord and his brothers go to his aunt's house.
The three deities leave the temple in a procession called pahandi, while devotees chant mantras and seek blessings from the Lord. The huge chariots and idols are decorated with flowers and so on. An important ceremony is called Chhera Pamhara. Before the ceremony, King Gajapati of Puri swept the streets with a golden broomstick. This shows that even the king is the humble servant of Lord Jagannath.
