No Tax Exemption for Thalapathy Vijay but fine of Rs 1 lakh: Madras High Court

Thalapathy Vijay, renowned actor of the Southern film industry is the owner of a huge collection of cars. Recently Madras High Court has charged him a fine of Rs 1 Lakh for not being responsible enough to pay the entry tax on the Rolls Royce Car he owns. The price of the luxurious car is Rs 7.95 crores. In the year 2012, the actor had filed a legal petition for restraining the tax authorities for collecting or demanding the entry tax for the Rolls Royce Car he had. The question of entry tax came into picture as this car was actually imported from abroad; i.e. England. Today his petition was rejected by the Madras High Court and they fined him Rs 1 lakh instead.

An order of the court was issued for Vijay and through that order he was asked to make a deposition of Rs 1 lakh to the Covid Public Relief Fund of the Tamil Nadu CM strictly within 2 weeks post the receipt of the order. Thalapathy Vijay was also ordered to clear the pending tax amount within 2 weeks.

“Those fans see such actors as real heroes. In a state like Tamil Nadu, where such actors have become rulers of the state, they are not expected to behave like a ‘reel hero’. Tax evasion is to be construed as an anti-national habit, attitude and mindset and unconstitutional,” the judge remarked.

A couple of days back a video was posted on internet showing Vijay driving his swanky, wine hued Rolls Royce on the roads of Chennai and the video had generated much buzz on the social media.

As far as the work front of Thalapathy Vijay is concerned, after the actor garnered superb success with the movie Master, he is now preparing to dive into another project; his next movie ‘Beast’. The director of the movie is Nelson Dilipkumar. We can hope to see Vijay in a completely new avatar for this movie. At present Vijay is hell busy shooting for the movie’s second schedule in Chennai. Pooja Hegde is acting opposite Thalapathy in the movie.
