Covid-19 norms relax in Karnataka

With covid-19 cases coming down in the state Karnataka has decided to ease Covid Norms

On this Sunday, the government of Karnataka decided to further relax Covid-19 related restrictions in the state, giving permission for the movie theatres to reopen and reducing the time span of night curfew by an hour effective from the 19th of July onwards. Higher academic institutes like colleges, universities too were given the permission to restart from the 26th of July.

 

Decision regarding the relaxations to come to force was taken during a meet held at CM B S Yediyurappa’s residence. The meeting was chaired by the CM and also by other officials and senior ministers of his team. Through an official statement it was declared that the movie theatres would be made functional with just 50% staff support after abiding by the Covid protocols.

Regarding the reopening of academic institutes the state government made it clear that only the staffs or students who have had received their first vaccine dose will be permitted to attend to their duties or the classes.

 

The government of the state had imposed these restrictions since the 27th of April and the restrictions were made stricter since the 10th of May as the number of per-day COVID cases soared beyond 50,000 on the 5th of May, while the net number active covid cases went beyond six lakhs on the 15th of May 2021.

The curbs were relaxed a bit from the 14th of June, and were relaxed further on the 21st of June and next on the 5th of July. The timing of the night curfew was previously from 7 PM to 5 AM. The timing was relaxed further by nearly two hours from the 5th of July. The timing then spanned from 9 PM until 5 AM. From Monday onwards, the duration of night curfew will be from 10 PM until 5 AM. The government of the state has decided to relax the covid related norms after the number of Covid cases dropped substantially. The state has recorded 1,869 new infections, 42 covid triggered deaths and about 30,082 active covid cases on this Saturday.
