Karnataka Prime Minister BS Yediyurappa called on his BJP colleagues "not to indulge in protest and indiscipline" on Wednesday night, after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, under pressure to to withdraw from the rumors. Yediyurappa's tweets were seen as subtle suggestions for the center, when it had been gaining support from religious leaders and even former congressional ministers.

 Yediyurappa, 78, said on Twitter that he has been a "loyal employee" of the People's Party. "I am honored to be a loyal employee of the Popular Party. I feel very honored to serve the party with the highest standards of ethics and behavior. I urge everyone to act in accordance with the party’s ethics and not to participate in disrespectful and shameful protests/disciplinarity against the party.

 The Chief Minister suddenly traveled to Delhi to meet with the top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party last week, which sparked questions about how long he will meet.
