What is the Karnataka covid situation currently?

Karnataka logged 1,501 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday taking the total number of cases in the state to 28.97 lakh. The number of deaths recorded on the day was 32 which took the death toll in the state to 36,437.
There were 2,039 discharges in the course of the day which makes the total number of recoveries from Covid-19 infections, 28,36,717. This also makes the number of recoveries outnumber the number of daily new cases.
Bengaluru Urban alone reported 354 new cases. The number of discharges of recovered patients here was 484 while the number of deaths was 5, as per the state health department.
Total active cases in Karnataka now stands at 22,487. The test positivity rate in the state was 1.46 per cent and the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 2.13 per cent. Aside from Bengaluru Urban, which accounted for the maximum caseload of fatalities due to Covid-19, the other places that reported Covid related deaths were Hassan (4), Kolar, and Belagavi (3 each).
The state also reported to have administered as many as 2,29,945 more doses of Covid-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours.
The recent political situation in Karnataka, has caused the government to defer their earlier decision to reopen schools across the state, Schools have remained closed for almost a year and a half here now on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Director of Public Instruction (DPI) on the other hand, has given in its report to the government on Monday in which they recommended that schools should be reopened from August 1, starting with higher classes (Class VI and above), followed by the lower classes about a week later.
According to an official of the DPI, “The decision will not be pushed any further than August 7. With the nod of the expert panel to hold classes for students in schools, reopening schools at the earliest is the recommendation made by all stakeholders involved in the process including school managements and parent representatives.”
