The famous Sun Temple in Konak, Puri district, Odisha, reopened to the public after being closed for more than three months due to the second wave of coronavirus. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 13th-century temple is due to its architecture and historical significance.
The temple was reopened to tourists after undergoing a heat screen. Officials said all COVID protocols will continue to be adhered to and that visitors must wear masks. According to guidelines issued by the state government, 2,000 tourists will be allowed to visit the temple every day.
How to visit?
Those who want to visit the temple should book tickets online in advance. They must scan the tickets on their mobile phones at the main entrance. Also, the temple is only open to tourists and devotees, because local guides, photographers, and artisans will not be able to enter the temple premises.
In early August, the state government announced through its unlocking procedure that after investigating the local COVID situation, the district government may reopen religious and other attractions. The government has allowed people to visit the beaches of Puri, Chandipur, and Chandra Bagh.
