According to data issued by the Union health ministry at 8 a.m. on Monday, India has 35,499 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the previous 24 hours. The number is marginally lower than the 39,070 cases reported the day before.
After Monday's new instances, the total number of cases is now 31,969,954. According to the ministry's figures, the death toll has risen by 447 people to 428,309 people.
According to the health ministry, the number of active cases has decreased to 402,188. The national recovery rate for Covid-19 has improved to 97.40 percent. The number of persons who have been cured of the disease has increased to 31,139,457.
On Saturday, 1,371,871 tests were conducted, bringing the total number of tests completed for Covid-19 detection in the country to 481,767,232.
Up until Sunday morning, 568 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered as part of the countrywide vaccination programme.
Johnson & Johnson's single-dose Covid-19 vaccine received emergency use authorization from the health ministry on Saturday, making it the sixth vaccination and the second foreign-made shot to be licenced for use in the country. The vaccine would be delivered to India through a supply agreement with Biological E Ltd, a local vaccine manufacturer.
