As we all know, cycling has many health benefits. Low-impact activities work on the heart muscle and protect it from serious heart attacks, such as strokes and heart attacks. According to new research published in JAMA Internal Medicine, cycling can reduce the symptoms of diabetes and greatly reduce the risk of premature death.

Why cycling?

In this study, researcher Dr. Mathias Ried Larsen examined the health data of more than 7,000 adults with diabetes, which was collected from the European Prospective Survey on Cancer and Nutrition. The data contains a questionnaire survey of medical history, sociodemographic and lifestyle information conducted in 10 Western European countries between 1992 and 2000. All participants were approximately 56 years old and, at the end of the study, approximately 1,700 had died.

Based on in-depth research, the research team concluded that cycling regularly for more than five years can reduce the risk of premature death from various causes by 35%.
